Paul MacKenzie-Cummins for CareerBuilder.co.uk
Here are the most dangerous and high-risk jobs in the UK (data from Risk Placement Services):
- Fisherman or Merchant Seafarers: around 103 per 100,000 fishermen and 52 in every 100,000 merchant seafarers die while working
- Bomb Disposal or Mine Clearance Expert
- Oil or Gas Rigger
- Construction Workers: 3.7 workers per 100,000
- Lorry and Commercial Drivers
- Deep-sea Diver
- War Zone Security Guard

I agree on your comments about most dangerous jobs in UK. I would add that during last 100 years, there have been a lot more life-threatening jobs, and I am not even counting war zone personel.
There were a lot of coal mines, textile mills, quarries, and steel factories. Veternas from these industry suffer from various life-threatening condistions such as cancer and asbestosis.
